When You Feel Like a Doormat

The Story of Folliculinum

ree

One of the most fascinating parts of being a homeopath and integrative coach is witnessing the moment when remedies begin to touch layers of healing that clients themselves may not have recognized before.

This is often where the real work begins - not just the work of the remedy, but the work of awareness, integration, and transformation.

Recently, I had a conversation with a client who is also a homeopathic student. She asked me a profound question:

“How do you know when deep-acting remedies are bringing about healing on a level that you were not able to recognize before? And as a homeopath, what do you do with that?”

This question speaks to the heart of homeopathy. Remedies don’t just relieve surface symptoms; they touch into patterns of being - those ingrained ways of thinking, feeling, and relating that were shaped in childhood, in relationships, and even through generational patterns. And when those patterns begin to shift, the experience can feel both liberating and unsettling.

Folliculinum: The “Doormat” Remedy

A beautiful example of this is the remedy Folliculinum, prepared from ovarian tissue. Folliculinum is sometimes called the Doormat Remedy because it so often applies to people, especially women, who have lost their sense of agency.

Keynotes of Folliculinum include:

  • A tendency to give too much, losing oneself in the needs of others

  • Difficulty setting boundaries or saying “no”

  • Feeling put upon or controlled by external expectations

  • A history of being over-accommodating in relationships

  • A deep fatigue that comes from living disconnected from one’s own desires and voice

As Robin Murphy wrote in his Homeopathic Remedy Guide:

“Folliculinum is indicated when a woman loses her will and becomes a slave to the demands and desires of others. She becomes a ‘doormat,’ … unable to assert herself. There is a deep sense of being dominated, even brainwashed, by stronger personalities… the patient feels robbed of her individuality.”

When Folliculinum begins to act, a woman may suddenly feel a stirring of agency - a voice within that wants to say, “This is not okay. I want something different.”

But because old family-of-origin patterns often run deep, this awakening can trigger an internal struggle. Part of her wants to claim her space, while another part fears rocking the boat, disappointing others, or breaking old unspoken rules.

A Container to Process the Awakening

On its own, a remedy like Folliculinum can awaken the suppressed self. But without a safe, supportive container, that awareness can feel overwhelming. Old patterns may pull her back into silence.

That’s why I built my practice as a coaching and healing practice, not just homeopathy alone.

  • Homeopathy opens the energetic doorway. It awakens the innate healing force and begins to shift patterns.

  • Coaching creates a safe, intentional container where those shifts can be explored, named, and integrated.

  • Somatic healing supports the nervous system, helping the body process change rather than collapse back into old survival patterns.

Together, this multi-method approach doesn’t just bring temporary relief, it supports deep transformation. Clients begin to see where their “doormat” tendencies came from, how they’ve been showing up in relationships, and what it looks like to stand in their true agency without fear.

The Healing Process Is a Journey

One of the most important truths I share with my clients is this: Healing is a process, not an event.

When a remedy like Folliculinum begins to work, the journey is only beginning. It may take time - weeks, months, even years - to fully embody the new patterns the remedy awakens.

And that’s okay.

In fact, that is where my role becomes so vital:

  • Helping clients recognize the subtle signs of healing that are easy to miss

  • Guiding them through the discomfort of change

  • Offering practical tools to reshape relational dynamics, boundaries, and self-expression

  • Reminding them that each step forward is a victory

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost your voice, if you’ve struggled with boundaries, if you’ve felt the exhaustion of being everything for everyone else while neglecting yourself then you know how deeply these patterns affect your health, your relationships, and your sense of self.

  • Homeopathy can awaken your voice.

  • Coaching can help you use it.

  • Somatic healing can anchor it into your body.

This is the heart of my practice: to walk with you through this journey of healing, supporting you as you reconnect with your agency, your truth, and your freedom.

Because you don’t just deserve relief from symptoms—you deserve to live as the fullest expression of yourself.

If this resonates with you, I invite you to explore working with me. Together, we can honor what the remedies awaken while building the awareness, tools, and resilience to carry that healing into every level of your life.
