Past, Present, and Future Dreams for Homeopathy

Last week, I had the joy and privilege of visiting London—a city rich with history, culture, and, as I discovered firsthand, an incredible homeopathic legacy. One of the true highlights of my trip was a long-anticipated visit to Helios Pharmacy, one of the most respected names in homeopathic medicine worldwide.
As someone who has devoted years to studying and practicing homeopathy, walking through the doors of Helios felt like stepping into sacred ground. Founded in 1986 by John and Maya Morgan, Helios was established with a mission to provide high-quality homeopathic remedies prepared in the traditional way. They also embrace innovation and research.
Today, Helios has become a global standard for excellence, serving practitioners and patients around the world from its two main locations in London and Tunbridge Wells.
What made the experience even more meaningful was the opportunity to meet up in person with UK-based colleague Zac Carpenter. We’ve shared ideas, insights, and cases across the digital divide for some time, but sharing space in this living hub of homeopathy was something special. Our conversations ranged from remedy sourcing and materia medica to the evolving role of homeopathy in a changing healthcare landscape.
As I stood inside the pharmacy, I was deeply moved watching people walk in with remedy orders in hand—prescriptions from their own homeopaths. Parents, professionals, and seekers of all kinds came to pick up remedies just like they would at any conventional pharmacy.
There was a quiet dignity and normalcy about it, something I found both touching and profound.
This is what healthcare can look like, I thought. Collaborative. Empowered. Personalized.
The staff at Helios were, in a word, lovely—gracious, warm, and genuinely enthusiastic about their work. They generously gave me a behind-the-scenes peek into the inner workings of the pharmacy, and I felt like a kid in a candy shop (except the “candies” were carefully hand-succussed remedies). I got to see how remedies are made using traditional Hahnemannian and Korsakovian methods and how global orders are packaged and fulfilled with care. It was humbling to witness the craft behind the healing.
This all stirred in me a deep reflection on what we once had—and what we can rebuild.

A Lost Legacy in the U.S.
Did you know that in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the United States was home to:
over 100 homeopathic hospitals
20+ homeopathic medical schools
hundreds of homeopathic pharmacies
Cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, and New York thrived with homeopathic clinics and physicians. But over time—and not without intentional suppression—this vibrant healing tradition was pushed to the margins.
In the U.S. today, we often spend as much time explaining homeopathy as we do practicing it. Watching Londoners walk in and out of Helios with remedy prescriptions from their homeopaths was a glimpse into a world that feels both normal and magical—a world I believe we can reclaim.
A Personal Wish—and an Invitation
My heart left Helios full. Full of gratitude, full of awe, and full of renewed commitment to the work I do every day with my clients.
I wish for a time when more Americans can walk into a pharmacy like Helios and leave with a remedy chosen just for them—not just based on symptoms, but on the whole of who they are. I hope for a future where homeopathy is no longer “alternative” but simply available, alongside other healing options.
And I invite you—whether you’re a practitioner, a parent, or someone just beginning to explore holistic medicine—to be part of that vision.
